Former Ghana international Yusif Chibsah has made an interesting suggestion in a bid to help put to bed the many rows that have occurred in the past years over the Black Stars captaincy.
Hubbubs over choice of captains for the senior national team have often thwarted the team’s chances with notable instances being the 1992 and 2019 Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.
Decisions taken about the captaincy have most times given birth to factions being created in the national side; developments that eventually jeopardized Ghana’s chances of annexing the ultimate.
Chibsah who captained Ghana’s U-23 side at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece believes that allowing players to elect their own leader will pull the plugs on the ensuing rancor that often happens when captaincy decisions are made by authorities.
