Forgotten Hearts of Oak midfielder Daniel Kodie has blamed former coach of the club Kim Grant saying the gaffer isĀ behind his long absence from football after picking an injury.
The 26-year-old has been sidelined due to a knee injury he sustained at the capital-based club since May 2019.
According to the player, Grant prevented the club’s decision to cover the cost of the surgery for his damaged knee despite efforts from the management of the club.
“I have been sidelined for one year now. I suffered the injury on May 23rd last year,” Kodie told Kumasi-based radio station Oyerepa FM.
“Hearts of Oak have not neglected me but I only blame Kim Grant for what has happened since May 2019”
“He [Kim Grant] was around when I sustained the injury, I told him about my situation but he always pretended that he has informed the board of directors and management about my injury.
”When the Hearts of Oak board of directors decided to make an arrangement for my surgery. Kim Grant kicked against their decision.
“He told them not cater for my surgery because my contract with the club had expired,” he painfully complained.
“I was asked to visit a doctor for a MRI scan last December under Frederick Moore. He gave me money for the scan.
The former Liberty Professional midfielder also disclosed that Hearts of Oak have decided to fly him out for treatment.
“I was to leave the country for a surgery as recommended by the doctor but the Government restrictions on travels has halted everything.”
Footballmadeinghana.com understands the player will fly to South Africa for treatment on his knee when the Government of Ghana lifts restrictions on travels.
