Ghanaian goalkeeper Appiah Kubi has admitted he struggled to cope with the demands when he first arrived at Aspire Academy in Qatar.
The brilliant shot-stopper moved to the internationally renowned football school in 2014.
He recounts some of the difficulties he faced largely due to cultural shock and high standards of professionalism.
“I struggled a lot when I first came to the Aspire Academy. Academy life is very different from home. You don’t really have the freedom, there is a strict regiment to follow.
“It’s football and after there is school after which there is rest and it’s back to training again. It was really difficult for me to catch up in my first year but later on things began to fall in place” the 19 year old revealed in an interview with Sports Pack.
The 19 year old has been revelation since finding his feet in the middle eastern country.
Appiah took the team to the semi-finals of the MIC cup in the 2014/15 season.
He also won the Qatar Airways Cup between Barcelona U16 in Spain.
