Asante Kotoko Board Member and Chief Executive officer of the Ghana EXIM Bank, Kwadwo Boateng Genfi has backed Felix Annan’s call for a salary structure which will help curb the rampant player exodus in the league.
In a latest report released by CEIS, Ghana is the second exporter of footballers in Africa which supports the fact that local players move out for greener pastures due to low wages.
The goalkeeper proposed a $1000 monthly minimum wage for players plying their trade in Ghana’s top flight division.
Speaking in an interview with Oyerepa FM in Kumasi, the board member supported the suggestion from the club’s captain.
“I agree with Felix Anna suggestion that local players are paid $1000, Football is about money so we will discuss as board if we can afford and negotiate with the players”
“Player Motivation will be key in our tenure. When you give a player a better welfare and you will get the best out of the player, Taking cue from how Herbert Mensah handled welfare of players at his time, I am very much interested in that” he added.
