Former Asante Kotoko top marksman, Eric Bekoe has fended for current Executive Chairman, Kwame Kyei insisting that the business tycoon is insulated from blame as regards the state the club presently.
Kotoko have been in the news for bad reasons more recently with several issues bedevilling their progress both on and off the pitch.
Under Kwame Kyei the club has had various issues ranging from being made to pay huge compensation packages to coaches who were dismissed unfairly, paying fines for unlawful registration of players and poor recruitment plan which has led to signing of below standard players.
The happenings triggered The Manhyia Palace, the swayer of the club to set a committee to investigate the affairs of the club during the tenure of Kwame Kyei.
Even before the verdict is out, Kwame Kyei has been fingered as the architect of Kotoko’s struggles and should be booted out of the club.
However, Bekoe has taken issue with such claimants on the matter.
He told TV3’s GPL Express Show, “If you’re blaming the chairman who is Dr Kyei now that he is not helping kotoko to succeed, I don’t agree with you”.
Bekoe believes the recent happenings to Kotoko is not befitting a club who he says belongs to the elite class. He wants the blame to be laid at the doorstep of those responsible for the day to day running of the club.
“There are certain people that they need to audit. Even selecting of a coach, it seems they don’t watch it before bringing a coach to Kotoko” he said.
“Kotoko is like Manchester, Real Madrid, Kotoko deserves better” he concluded.
