Great Olympics star Gladson Awako believes the reported arrival of Asamoah Gyan and Sulley Muntari could revive the fortunes of the Ghana Premier League.
The duo have been linked with a sensational return to the local scene in the ongoing transfer window.
Muntari is rumored to be a subject of interest of Accra Hearts of Oak. The former Inter and AC Milan midfielder is currently unattached after leaving Spanish outfit Albacete in 2019.
While Gyan, who is a boyhood Asante Kotoko fan is believed to be considering a move to the Porcupine Warriors.
The 34 year old striker is currently unattached after he was released by Indian Super League side NorthEast United in January.
“I think this is a plus for us the players and the football association because their return to the local scene will motivate supporters to go to the stadium in their numbers,” Awako, himself a returnee after stints in Congo DR and the USA, said as reported by Footballghana .
“So if all these great players want to come back I think it’s going to revive the game here.”
Muntari and Gyan, who have each represented Ghana at three World Cups between 2006 and 2014, both played for local side Liberty Professionals before travelling abroad for their new adventures.
