Real Valladolid Sporting director Miguel Ángel Gómez has debunked rumors linking Ghanaian centerback Mohammed Salisu away from the club.
Ángel Gómez believes such rumors are unfounded and has the tendency to distract the focus of the player on his development.
21 year old Salisu who has a €12 million release clause has been linked with some European clubs over the last 5 months about a move from the Whites and Violets.
He has been linked to Manchester United, Everton, Real Madrid and the latest rumor has linked him to La Liga side Valencia.
Responding to the rumors, Miguel Ángel Gómez denied any truth in the links to Valencia and warned the media to allow Salisu concentrate and not suffer same fate as Fernando Calero (once a young promising defender at the club who failed to step it up)
”The less talk about Salisu, better for him. It is a mistake we [Real Valladolid] learned about last year with Fernando Calero,” Gómez said.
”The club has no record of Valencia’s interest [in Salisu]. These things deceive him. Salisu is a young boy like Fernando was. You have to let the boy concentrate on his things.
”My feeling is that Salisu will continue here, there is no fear. He will be here until the end of the season.”
Salisu has made 28 appearances for Valladolid, scoring 1 and assisting a goal in the 2019-20 season.
