Hearts of Oak forward, Abednego Tetteh looks to have found an answer to the mass player exodus plaguing Ghana Football.
The former Bechem forward has opined that most of the local players will stay in the domestic leagues if they can paid $1,000 as monthly wages.
Ghana has been ranked by the CIES Observatory report as the second highest exporter of players in Africa.
This affirms the point that players seek moves abroad for greener pastures due to meagre salaries they earn in the local league.
Abednego Tetteh wants key stakeholders to engage on how to improve conditions pertaining to the local leagues to help retain players.
He told FootballMadeinGhana “We really have to help improve our game, so that the boys (players) can stay and play in the local league”.
Tetteh is a sojourner, having played in Sudan, Ethiopia and India. He has confessed money influenced most of these moves.
“Its because of the money that we travel…the salary was good, being paid $3000 a month is good” he noted.
“In Ghana, if players are paid even $1000, I doubt of most of them would want to travel abroad to play”
“Its a fact, most of them won’t travel, because the experience we go through over there (is worse)” he concluded.
Tetteh was speaking to Football Made in Ghana as part of the GH Footy Show with Sheikh Tophic which airs every Friday on the Facebook page of this website.
