Asante Kotoko legend Malik Jabir has identified the managerial appointments made by Kwame Kyei as the cause of club’s main woes under the businessman.
Kwame Kyei who has been serving as the Executive Chairman of the Ghanaian premier league giants since 2016 has been mentioned as incapable of taking the club to the apex of Ghana football owing to his lack of expertise in running such a project.
Under Kwame Kyei Kotoko have failed to win the league title but have won one FA Cup title and represented in the Group Stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.
Kwame Kyei’s time has also seen a tall list of coaching changes while players have been sold off at a relatively lower fee or for nothing at all.
His critics argue that although he’s flourished in business, he lacks the requisite skill and knowledge to steer Asante Kotoko to the top.
There has been a campaign to get him out of the club after what many describe has been an unsuccessful tenure laden with basic and ludicrous administrative lapses.
However, former Asante Kotoko player and Coach Malik Jabir disagrees. He believes Kwame Kyei’s appointed management members have not helped and as such they rather need to go.
He told Kumasi based OTEC FM, “nobody should touch Dr. Kyei, they should rather help him and give him matured men to work with because those who gave him the assurance to work with have really failed him”
“The previous chairmen who succeeded in Kotoko worked with big people who are knowledgeable and solved problems with their expertise aside from football. Dr. Kyei’s biggest mistake was to appoint young guys who are innocent and don’t even know much about the club that has caused Kotoko off late” he concluded.
