Bankroller of New Edubiase football club Abdul-Salam Yakubu has called on the Ghana Football Association to cancel the Ghana Premier League and Division One League 2019/20 seasons due the coronavirus outbreak in the Ghana.
The GFA following the directives given by the President of the Republic on Sunday, March 15, 2020, suspended all its competitions until further notice.
So far Ghana has recorded 152 positive cases of Covid-19 and there are fears the situation could escalate just as has happened across countries like the USA, France, Italy and Spain.
Speaking to Atinka FM on the continuation of the league, the outspoken football administrator called on the GFA to cancel the league and start planning for a new season.
“I’m calling on the FA to cancel the 2019/20 league seasons because we didnt start early that caused the many mid week fixtures, and if you consider the possible number of months the coronavirus will take, I dont think we will be able to beat the time.”
“Again some clubs have defy all orders and the fear that the virus pose and are still training in secret, cancelling the league now will save everybody, thoee who are still training in secret will stop” he said.
