Considering Asante Kotoko’s dip in form on both the local and continental level, former skipper of the side Yusif Chibsah believes that experience and maturity of players must be thoroughly looked at.
To him, most of the current player do not mature with the clubs before joining Kotoko, hence their inability to handle pressure when it starts mounting.
Chibsah who played for the club from 2003 to 2006 says things were different during his time compared to the current situation of the club.
He recalled his playing mates during his three year stay with the club in an interview with footballmadeinghana.com
“In our days it was extremely difficult to single out a player as the best in the team, not even myself because every department was very intact.
“The IMT at the time purchased good and quality and well established players from various clubs and I think that made the magic for the team.
“Our bonuses and salaries were always before time, we never protest about our salaries, the regional and national circles were always supportive.
“Comparably Asante Kotoko players now do not mature well at their clubs before joining the team,” he added.
Chibsah was part of the Asante Kotoko side that last reached the final of the CAF Confederation Cup losing 8-7 to the their rivals Accra Hearts of Oak in 2004.
