The deputy General of the Confederation of African Football and ex-Ghana international Anthony Baffoe has paid tribute to the late Opoku Afriyie.
Opoku Afriyie popularly referred to as ‘Bayie’ is an ex-Ghana international who passed on, on Sunday March 29, 2020 aged 75.
He was instrumental as Ghana won her third AFCON trophy in 1978 on home soil. He scored all two goals as the Black Stars defeated Uganda 2-0 in the finals.
At club level, Bayie made a name for himself at Asante Kotoko before cementing his legacy status at archvrivals Hearts of Oak.
He emerged top scorer in the Ghana domestic football league in 1979 and again in 1981.
Tony Baffoe who also represented the Black Stars took to Twitter to pay his last respect to the departed Ghana Football who also served as team manager of both Asante Kotoko and the Black Stars.
