Nashville SC winger David Accam has weighed in on the rising number of Ghanaian players plying their trade in the United States of America.
Currently there are over 100 Ghanaian footballers spread throughout the various divisions from the MLS to the USL Championship down to the USL League One.
Jonathan Mensah, Harrison Afful, Latif Blessing, and more recently Leonard Owusu are some of the notable names playing in the country’s top flight division.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with FootballMadeInGhana, Accam shared his thoughts on the situation which he believes has a positive ramification on the careers of his compatriots.
“The MLS is still young and getting bigger and better every year. It’s attracting a lot of players from all over the world not only Ghanaians. There are a lot of top players from South America and Europe” he said.
”It used to be considered a retirement destination but it’s now attracting a lot of young players so I’m not too surprised a lot of Ghanaians are coming to the League because it can be a stepping stone for a move to a bigger league” he concluded.
