Accra Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Richard Attah has taken to social media to celebrate his maiden call up into the senior national team.
Attah is one of 4 local players invited to be part of Coach Charles Kwabla Akonnor’s first squad since being handed the Black Stars job.
The 24 year old shot stopper has kept 5 clean sheets in the ongoing Ghana Premier League while also helping the Phobians go unbeaten in their last 6 games in all competitions.
Before he manned the post for the first time, Hearts of Oak had shipped in 4 goals in 2 games. In the 10 matches he’s been between the sticks, they have conceded 7 goals.
Attah joins the likes of Richard Ofori and Razak Abalora as the invited goalkeepers in the Akonnor’s 23 man squad for the AFCON 2021 qualifying double header with Sudan later this month.
An elated Attah has expressed his excitement at the opportunity to wear the national colors. He tweeted “Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God. Thank you all for your support yes we made it #trust the process @HeartsOfOakGH @fansofhearts @osae27 @CoachOpeele”.
