Medeama SC found sunshine amidst rain on a wet Monday afternoon to claim a narrow victory over Accra Great Olympics and keep their title charge well on course.
The Mauve and Yellow defied the soggy pitch to get one over their opponents during the Match Week 12 encounter courtesy a first half goal by Prince Opoku Agyemang.
The prolific left footed striker took advantage of a rebound situation to tap into the net in the 20th minute after Nana Kofi Babil had forced a save from Olympics goalie Nelson Ayuba.
The goal was Opoku Agyemang, Medeama’s ‘Prince of goals’ 9th of the campaign leaving him two behind leading scorer Victorien Adebayor.
An earlier downpour threatened to either delay or postpone the game but after subsequent checks by referee Ali Musa and his team of officials, it was agreed that it should go on.
Medeama SC as usual started brilliantly and created some chances but failed to hit the target.
Olympics nearly took the lead in the 10th minute against the run of play but their effort kissed the post.
Medeama after that took total control of the game and heaped doses of pressure on the away side.
They took the lead from one of their forward runs.
After being put through by Donsu, Nana Kofi Babil shot at goal which was parried by Olympics goalie Ayuba.
Opoku Agyemang was the quickest to react as he tapped into the net to open the scoring for his side.
The home side did not relent and drive further forward but missed the subsequent chances they created.
