Captain of Ghana’s female Under 17 side, Basira Alhassan says although Ghana beat Liberia, she is a tad disappointed they weren’t able to do so by recording more goals.
The Black Maidens won 2-0 away in Monrovia in the first leg of the FIFA world Cup qualifier with Ghana hosting the second leg later. Goals from Ophelia Serwaa Amponsah and Salamatu Abdulai gave Coach Mallam Nuhu’s side an easier task in the return encounter.
However speaking in a post-match interview, Basira Alhassan admitted they wanted more than just a 2-0 result. She insists they should have scored more and the team is ready to make amends when they host Liberia in the return encounter.
“To me that was not what we were expecting, we wanted to score more goals for our coach because that was what we were supposed to do, so what I will say is we have to go back to Ghana and train well so that we can make our coach proud by scoring more goals for him”.
