Eyebrows were raised when Maxwell Konadu invited Mudasiru Salifu to the Black Stars B camp ahead of the 2020 CHAN tournament qualifiers against Burkina Faso after he had just joined Kotoko without playing any competitive football for the Porcupines.
Injuries and lack of fitness at the time forced Maxwell Konadu to drop him from the final squad. Ghana were eventually knocked out from the qualifiers by Burkina Faso.
But there is always a perfect stage for every player to announce his presence , and Mudasiru Salifu didn’t seize the opportunity in just any game than the biggest football match in Ghana; Hearts – Kotoko.
The left footed play maker lasted only 30 minutes in the game due to injury but his name remained on the lips of writers, fans and football lovers who watched the game at the stadium and on TV.
“Mudasiru Salifu gave Moussa Dembele vibes. Best player on the field before his injury. What a player. I see why Kotoko fans & my friend @Muftawu_Nabila won’t stop drooling over him. I don’t remember the last time I saw a Central Midfielder in the league do this with the ball in tight spaces from deep” A sports writer after watching Mudasiru against Hearts of Oak wrote.
