The spoils were evenly shared between Legon Cities FC and Eleven Wonders as the two teams produced a goalless stalemate in their Ghana Premier League Match Week 12 encounter on Saturday.
With just under a minute played, the away side had a shot from the left wing but went over the bar. In the 5th minute the Eleven Wonders attack tested Legon Cities goalkeeper Fatau Dauda with a shot, with the veteran goalkeeper pulling off a save.
Legon Cities had a penalty shout turned down in the 12th minute as Cephas Doku’s shot in the penalty box appeared to have hit the hand of an Eleven Wonders defender. Center referee Eso Morrision waved play on.
The home side was forced into an early substitution as Fatau Dauda who suffered a knock was replaced by Winfred Honu Komla Selorm in the 21st minute.
Legon Cities had an opportunity to take the lead when Cephas Doku struck one from distance but Wonders goalie John Moosie pushed it out.
Just before the break, Eleven Wonders were denied the opening goal when Winfred Selorm dived perfectly to his right to make a great save.
In the second half, Legon Cities took total control of the game owing to a change in game plan by the away side.
Eleven Wonders decided to sit deep and frustrate the home team who also failed to undo the packed backline of their opponents.
In the 83rd minute, Legon Cities attacker Jabila Abdulkarim, terribly missed from close range denying his side an opportunity to score the opener and eventual match winner.
The game stayed as such and ended goalless as the two teams earned a point each for their efforts.
Legon Cities extends their unbeaten home run to 5 matches in the league and now occupy the 14th spot on the league log.
Eleven Wonders, also on a 4 match unbeaten run currently, move to 10th in the meantime with a point tally of 13.
