Vancouver Whitecaps new signing Leonard Owusu has penned an emotional farewell to his former club Ashdod FC after sealing a move to the Major league soccer side.
Owusu made 46 league appearances for the Israeli side after joining them from Dreams FC in 2018.
In a statement on his social media handle, Leonard thanked the management of Ashdod FC for helping him in his one and half years at the club.
“It’s been a great experience in FC Ashdod, I’ve met amazing people , who helped me a lot throughout my one and half years here. Now it’s time for a new challenge, and I am very excited to join Vancouver Whitecaps!
I will forever be grateful to Ashdod management for letting me continue my journey and follow my dreams. I will never forget the club and the fans, thank you all for your support during my time here. It’s been a great honour playing for you. Wish the team all the best of luck and success.”
Leonard Owusu will sign a three-year contract with an option to ink an extension of one year if he manages to live up to expectation.
He can be remembered for the time he captained Dreams FC to win the 2018 GHALCA G8 Tournament. In a tournament where he hugely impressed, he was subsequently named the MVP
