Ahead of the kickoff of the Division One League season, the Division One League Board in collaboration with Dalex Finance has held a successful Design Thinking Tournament with corporate Ghana to brainstorm about the game for possible avenues of development.
The tournament held on Saturday at the Christ The King Parish which brought on board several corporate personnel was aimed at making football accessible to the non-football community.
Led by the Vice Chairman of the Division One League Board, Kenneth Thompson, who doubles as the CEO of Dalex Finance, the team went through brainstorming sessions and presentations to identify challenges of the DOL and suggest possible remedies for its progress.
The team also engaged the corporate world to demystify the notion of football belonging to specific people to make a case for corporate Ghana to come on board to partner clubs and the league.
One of the major problems confronting the DOL, sponsorship, was thoroughly dealt with, with clubs being provided strategies to get corporate Ghana on board for sponsorship.
Speaking at the event, President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Okraku applauded the DOL Board acknowledging the fact that not even the Premier League Board has been able to stage such a wonderful tournament.
“This is an amazing exercise and I must commend the board for such a strategy. Not even the Premier League has been able to stage such a brainstorming exercise with corporate Ghana to make a case for partnerships with the football industry,” Kurt noted.
“I believe this will bring along a lot positives as we seek to revive and re-energize football with passion and create wealth for all,” he added.
Chairman of the DOL Board Akwasi Agyemang was optimistic his team will be able to make a case for corporate Ghana to join the redefinition phase of Ghana football.
he argued that it was always the best strategy to make the corporate world feel part of the game of football and present a case for them to come on board and support clubs and the Ghana FA.
At the event, several opportunity strategies were discussed to provide clubs unlimited avenues of getting corporate Ghana involved in their management to facilitate their progress.
Diana Asante, CEO of Exceed Travel and Tours, who was a key part of the tournament/brainstorming exercise was amazed by the opportunities the game offers and called on the leaders of the football industry to distance themselves from practices such as bribery and corruption to make a case for corporate Ghana to come on board and partner them.
She advised clubs to give corporate Ghana the mileage they deserve and desist from violence and other denigrating acts which will push many organizations off from investing in the industry.
Other personalities who participated in the brainstorming exercise include the Vice Chairman of the Division One League Board Jesse Agyepong, CEE of Exceed Travel and Tours Diana Asante, former CEO of Wa All Stars Oduro Nyarko, Vice President of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana Maurice Quansah, Financial Expert/Consultant Joseph Jackson, Augustine Ahinful and many others including bankers, market women, students and journalists.
Mr. Joe Jackson, a business consultant and a Director of Dalex Finance, moderated the design thinking session to help develop a winning strategy for DOL.
