Asante Kotoko coach Maxwell Konadu commended his side for earning a hard-fought victory over Eleven Wonders in their opening game of the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League.
The Porcupine Warriors recorded a narrow 1-0 win against the Wonder Club at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday courtesy Justice Blay’s powerful header early in the game.
Speaking in his post much presser, Konadu admitted his team didn’t have it all their way throughout the 90 minutes but lauded their ability to churn out a win despite the shaky performance.
“The game was very difficult. We understand because it’s the first match of the season. From last week, we planned what we wanted to play. Initially things went well but eventually we were not able to score more goals,” he told reporters.
“I think Eleven Wonders came in much stronger in the second half than we did. It wasn’t an easy match but it’s a sign of a good team. On a bad but we still managed to pull a win. I think that’s good on our side,” he ended.
Asante Kotoko will seek their second win when they travel to face newly branded Legon Cities on the match-day two.
