Bechem United began their 2019/20 Ghana Premier League campaign with a convincing 2-0 win against Elmina Sharks at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour park on Sunday.
After an uneventful first half hour, the game took a dramatic turn when Sharks were reduced to 10 men in the 37th minute.
Defender Suraj Ibrahim received his marching orders following a second bookable offense after a nasty double tackle on Kwadwo Asamoah.
The home team capitalized on their numerical advantage and drew first blood through Kwadwo Asamoah on the stroke of half time.
Prince Adu Kwabena doubled their lead in the second half to effectively kill the game at 2-0.
It was a case of game management from then on from Bechem United who ensured they began their season with a well-deserved clean sheet and three points.
Sharks will hope for a better performance when they host Karela on match day 2 while Bechem United travel to Accra to face Inter Allies.
