Immigration Ladies staged a splendid performance to beat Sea Lions 2-1 in the final of the maiden edition of Ama Pele Mini Tournament at St Thomas Aquinas SHS Park on Sunday.
Six female teams participated in the Mini tournament; Police Ladies, Ridge City FC, Sea Lions, Ideal Ladies and Rock Ladies.
But the two team who made to the finals were Immigration Ladies and Sea Lions.
It was Immigration Ladies who broke the deadlock of the game in 19th minute, after a beautiful pass from Faustina Kyeremeh found Gifty Appiah who burried the ball at back of the net.
Despite creating a lot of chances, none of the sides were able to find the back of the net again before the break.
The first half ended 1-0 in favour of Immigration Ladies.
Sea Lions got the equaliser 19 minute after the recess.
But their equaliser didn’t last as Immigration Ladies added the second a minute later through striker Faustina Kyeremeh.
Immigration ladies defended their lead till the blast of the final whistle.
The tournament was organized by Ghana female international and Black Queens captain Elizabeth Addo as part of her effort to create more awareness in women’s football.
At the end of the competition, Immigration Ladies went away with GHC1,000, a giant trophy and two footballs, with the runners up getting GHC1,000.
Immigration Ladies Fustina Kyeremeh won the the Most Valuable Player of the tourney with the Best Midfielder going to Zainabu Mumuni of Rock Ladies.
Sea Lions’ Martha Annan won the Best goalie and the best defender went to Cecilia Haghan.
Women’s League Committee Chairperson Madam Hilary Boateng, Coach Oti Akenteng, Coach Mercy Kwaku Tagoe, Coach Yusif Basigi, Naa Ofofoley were all there to make the tournament successful.
