Fortuna Düsseldorf star Nana Opoku Ampomah has opened about what it meant for him to represent the Ghana national team.
The pacy winger was handed his debut call up by coach Kwesi Appiah for the Black Stars final match of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign against the Pharaohs of Egypt in November 2017.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with FootballMadeInGhana.com, the 23 year old revealed how reacted upon receiving the news.
“Every young player’s dream is to play for the National team of Ghana so when you have the chance to represent your country it’s an amazing feeling which I was so excited about.
I was very happy that I was selected so I came and tried to do my best although it wasn’t easy. I am always ready to serve my country”
His phenomenal form in the Belgian Jupilar Pro League for Waasland-Beveren earned him the call-up but Ampomah insists the news took him by surprise.
“I knew everything was possible but I was focused on my career and I was just playing as I know how. So I wouldn’t say I was or wasn’t expecting the invite but I’m happy the coach did an amazing job by noticing what I was doing”
Ampimah has been capped four times by Black Stars.
