SC Paderborn 07 winger Christopher Antwi Adjei made his long awaited debut for the Black Stars of Ghana on Monday in their slim win over Sáo Tomé and Principe in the 2021 AFCON Qualifier.
The winger came on from the bench for Samuel Owusu on the 71st minute as the Black Stars walked off with a 1-0 win over their lowly fancied opponents.
Born in Germany, Antwi Adjei last came to Ghana when he was only 5 years old and had to make a return when he was handed his maiden call up to play for the country.
But he was disappointed as his debut had to wait because of issues with his documentation.
A swift intervention by the Ghana FA ensured his Ghanaian passport was handed to him to enable him travel to Ghana for the first time in over 20 years.
Despite his inability to make his debut against South Africa, the winger staged an impressive outing against Sáo Tomé.
Ghana made it two wins in two games in the AFCON qualifiers to move to the top of the table after Jordan Ayew converted a perfect spot kick.
