FootballMadeInGhana.com writer Daraja Kapoor rates the performance of Black Stars players in their 2-0 win over South Africa at the Cape Coast Stadium on Thursday.
Every player is marked out of 10.
Richard Ofori 6- Assured as ever, didn’t have too much do throughout the game to be fair.
Andy Yiadom 7- Always alert in defense and did well to stop the threat from left wing
Kassim Nuhu 7 – Shackled Mothiba well, quick to anticipate and linked well with his team-mates. Very dominant in the air.
Joseph Aidoo 7 – The Celta Vigo guardsman seems to have forged a good understanding with Nuhu. Was always on the same wavelength as his partner in crime. Solid display
Gideon Mensah 6 – the debutant recovered from his shaky start to put in a good shift at left back. Looked more confident is the second half. Promising!
Iddrisu Baba 8 – The Real Mallorca Star was always where he needed to be. Didn’t stop moving, working hard. Had a good game, ended up going off but showed he deserves to be in this squad.
Thomas Partey 9 – ‘The Puppet master’, he pulled the stings in midfield- taking the ball and laying it off with relentless, flawless frequency. Capped of his Man of the Match display with a long range strike which broke the deadlock
Alfred Duncan 6- The Sassuolo midfielder was tactically disciplined but had a relatively quiet game
Andre Ayew 7 – The skipper of the side had a good all-round game. Dropped deep when needed and was always in the mix in attack.
Jordan Ayew 7 – The Crystal Palace marksman worked tirelessly upfront and was a constant threat for Bafana’s backline. Unlucky not to be on the scoresheet
Emmanuel Boateng 7 – Had s couple of decent half chances to register his name on the scoresheet but was denied by last ditch tackles. Complimented Jordan upfront. Decent game
