Ghanaian midfielder Issah Yakubu powered Lebanese side Al Ahed FC to lift the AFC Cup with a 74th minute strike over North Korean side April 25 SC on Monday evening.
The former Asante Kotoko and Dreams FC midfielder staged a stupendous outing to guide his side to lift the important trophy that will see them compete in the AFC Champions League this season.
The first half of the game was impregnable as both sides failed to break the virginity of the game but Yakubu stood up to the task to fire home the winner on the 74th minute for his side.
The North Korean side pushed for the equalizer but the industrious Yakubu weaved a barrier in midfield to prevent them from restoring parity to push the game in extra time.
The Ghanaian midfielder who was voted the best foreign player and the best midfielder in the Lebanese league two seasons ago could win the accolade again following his amazing outing this season.
By lifting the AFC Cup, Al Ahed FC will be one of the representatives of the Eastern Zone for the AFC Champions League.
