The Judge hearing the contempt case between the Normalization Committee of the Ghana FA and Division Three side Africa XI FC has been prevented from hearing the case following a petition by the NC to the Supreme Court.
The committee filed the order of prohibition at the Supreme Court against Justice Emmanuel Ankarmah on 23rd October to prevent him from adjudicating the case on Thursday morning.
The judge, therefore, cannot decide on the contempt case on Thursday, 24th October until 26th November set by Supreme Court to decide on the petition over the judge.
The Tema-based Division Three side, Africa XI FC, had secured an interlocutory injunction on the elections of the GFA a week ago.
But they went ahead to organize the elections on the 18th to elect RFA Chairmen which was cited for a contempt of court.
The Normalization Committee has, however, gone to the Supreme Court to seek for an order to prevent the judge from hearing the case today (Thursday) claiming he ‘demonstrated real likelihood of bias’ in the conduct of the case and ‘breached rules of natural justice’.
This means that the elections of the GFA will go on as scheduled following the Supreme Court’s order preventing the Judge to proceed with adjudicating the case.
Already, the RFA Elections have been conducted with the executive council elections ongoing.
The Presidential Elections of the FA are set to take place on Friday.
The build up to election to elect new officials for the Ghana Football Association has been dogged with multiple legal actions as several attempts are being made to stop the process following the disqualification of one of the leading candidates Wilfred Osei Kwaku.
