Accra Hearts of Oak and city rivals Great Olympics played out a an entertaining goalless draw in the Mantse derby at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.
The match was played in commemoration of the annual Homowo festival which is celebrated by the Gas.
It was a game of two halves as the Phobians dominated the opening 45. Obeng Jnr and Kofi Kordzi both came close to breaking the deadlock and remained a constant threat throughout the first half.
After the recess, Olympics came out with more intent in their play and started to cause problems for the Hearts of Oak backline.
In the end, neither side was able to take their chances in the final third as the game petered out into a draw.
The organizers then decided that instead of penalty shootouts there will be a rematch next week to determine the winner of this year’s Homowo Cup.
