Ghanainan defender Lalas Abubakar has been named defender of season for his Colorado Rapids.
Abubakar 24, has been monstrous at the back for the Colorado based club since joining them on loan from Columbus Crew.
The defender featured in twenty two games for the club since joining the side in May 2019, his presence at the back helped the club to secure another season in the Major League Soccer after finishing 9th on the Western Conference league table.
Lalas Abubakar scooped the defender of the season award at the club’s annual end of the season awards on Monday night.
Jack Price picked the Most Valuable player of the season award, with Andre Shinyashiki taking home young player of the year award.
Former Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard who retires at the end of the season also picked the Humanitarian award.
