The memories of former Ghana striker Anthony Yeboah are still fresh in the minds of Eintracht Frankfurt fans as they couldn’t hold it but to chant the name of the Ghanaian during their shocking 3-0 home defeat to English side Arsenal.

Yeboah’s 5-year spell with the Red and Whites remain one of the historic moments in the journey of the club, making him an idol for the fans 24 years after his departure.

Yeboah was the first black player to join the Eagles during the 1990 season.

The powerful hitman established himself as a deadly striker, silencing all critics, and became the first African to captain a Bundesliga club.

He was the Bundesliga top scorer twice with the club before leaving to join English giants Leeds United in 1995.

The now-53-year-old’s exploits during that era has given him a legendary status at the club with several walls in Frankfurt designed with his photos of his playing days for the club.
