Following his stupendous performance against European giants Real Madrid during the preseason, Gideon Mensah has described playing against the White Angels as ‘normal’.
Gideon lasted the entire duration of the game for Red Bull Salzburg in their friendly with the Spanish giants during the preseason in Austria.
A 19th minute strike by Eden Hazard gave the While Angels a solitary win over the Austrian side.
The young Ghanaian defender who was impressive for Red Bull says it was a normal game for him and his team mates.
“When we were told that Madrid wanted to come and play with us, initially everyone was quiet. And our Sporting Director was like we must be happy because it was Madrid coming then we all started talking,” he said.
“There was nothing like pressure on us because we were not thinking of beating them but were just relishing the opportunity of playing against the top guys and just to play and enjoy the game.
“I was not being aggressive to myself of playing good but I kept telling myself that it’s an opportunity to sell myself and thankfully I played well,” he added.
“It was a normal game,” he noted.
Despite playing so well during the preseason and being admired by all at the Red Bull Arena, Gideon pushed for a loan deal to join Zulte-Waregem where he believes he will have enough playing time.
