Goldfields Ghana Limited have been unveiled as the headline sponsor for the maiden edition of Western Region Invitational Tournament.
The mining firm presented a sum of Ghc 100,000 to the organizers of the competition on as part of its sponsorship package.
At a brief presentation ceremony on Wednesday, Vice-President of GoldFields West Africa, Francis Eduku said the package was in line with the company’s commitment to continue the development of football in the country.
“Goldfields Ghana Limited knows that football helps a lot in the development of a country so anytime we get the opportunity we help; this is not the first time we are helping football in the country, we did it for the Black Stars in 2006 when they qualified for the FIFA World Cup, we supported Medeama SC also in their African campaign. We love football and we know it comes with lots of benefits”.
The tournament will kick off on September 20, with 8 teams competing for the ultimate prize.
