Ghana U23 skipper Yaw Yeboah powered his side to a solitary win over Algeria in Setif to secure qualification to the U23 AFCON Tournament to be staged in Egypt later this year.
The inspirational skipper defied the odds to weave his way through a thick Algerian defence to slot home a beautiful finish to send the home side out of contention in the 70th minute.
Ghana dominated possession in the first half and came close to scoring on some few occasions but were denied by the resolute Algerian defenders.
The Meteors held their hosts to a pulsating 0-0 first half throwing the second half into a wonderful contest.
The second half became an open contest with the Algerian attacking the Meteors in search of a goal to kill the game.
But it was Ghana that had the better p[art of the second half when Yaw Yeboah took on three defenders and beautifully slotted the ball into the net for the only goal of the game.
The win means Ghana have qualified for the U23 AFCON to be staged in Egypt on a 2-1 aggregate after the first leg ended 1-1 in Accra on Friday.
