Despite the overwhelming mad rush in several Ghanaian players to play for the Black Stars, Valladolid defender Mohammed Salisu is an exception.
“I’m not ready for the Black Stars now,” he told FootballMadeInGhana.com.
The Spain-based defender has admitted that he is not quite ready for a call up to the senior national team even when he is called.
To him, he has just popped up onto the scene and playing for the Black Stars will be rush.
Playing for the U23, however, will be welcomed by the 20-year old.
“For now, I don’t have thoughts of the national team. Maybe in the future. Or maybe for the U23 but not the Black Stars. As for the Black Stars, not now,” he said.
Despite his meteoric rise from Real Valladolid’s youth side to the first team, the 20 year old is yet to be capped at any level for the West African country.
The Black Stars recently staged a disappointing outing at the just-ended 2019 AFCON in Egypt.
Ibrahim Tanko will, however, have the choice to either invite Salisu for the assignment against Algeria next month.
