Ghana winger Kingsley Sarfo has been released from prison in Sweden and subsequently deported to Ghana after his jail term was cut short by authorities for good behavior.
Sarfo was released earlier this week, and deported to Ghana immediately.
The former Anokye Stars midfielder was imprisoned after he was charged with defilement in Sweden.
On September 30, 2017, Sarfo was arrested following accusations of one case of attempted rape, and two cases of statutory rape.
As a result of the arrest, Sarfo was suspended from playing for Malmö FF, a suspension that was lifted on January 11, 2018 awaiting the legal process to be completed.
On January 31, 2018, Sarfo once again was arrested by the Swedish police, suspected of five cases of statutory rape.
On June 8, 2018, he was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison, along with a fine of 150,000 SEK and deportation after having served his jail sentence.
But after serving a year of his term with a year and a half more to go, the Ghana winger has been released following reports of good behavior in prison.
Sarfo was a member of the Black Stars team that played against Uganda in Kampala in 2017 in the 2018 World Cup qualifier.
