Head coach of Asante Kotoko, Kjetil Zachariassen has explained the reason behind using right back Samuel Frimpong in midfield.
Samuel Frimpong who joined the Porcupine Warriors from Divisions one club Bekwai Youth Academy has struggled to make it to the first team since he completed his move in May 2018.
But the arrival of Kjetil Zachariassen has given the player a new life line in the team, Frimpong has featured in both legs of the CAF Champions League for Asante Kotoko against Kano Pillars but in a different position.
The former Ashantigold coach has been using the player in midfield since his arrival at the club. Asked why he decided to changed the position of the right back to a midfielder, Zachariassen answered,
“It was very easy for me to see Samuel Frimpong is not a right back, from the first week we saw he has pace and a lot of coverage capacity, he’s very effective playing there so we changed him”
“I was quite happy with the centre pair because we were playing an attacking football, I believe Kotoko should be an club, hence we should play more offensive minded players in all department of the game”
Asante Kotoko will turn their attention to the 2019 Presidenti Cup against their bitterest rivals Accra Hearts of Oak scheduled to come off on September 8.
