AshantiGold SC midfielder James Akaminko has expressed his joy after their 3-0 win over Akonangui FC in the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round on Saturday.

Shafiu Mumuni scored a hattrick at the Len Clay Stadium to ensure the Miners progressed 4-1 on aggregate.

“We are very happy for this victory. The management of the club invested hugely in this game so we were supposed to give them a win today and we thank God for that.” Akaminko said after the game.

AshantiGold will face 2019 CAF Confederation Cup runners up RS Berkane in the next qualifying round.

“We are done with this hurdle so we are waiting for the next stage. We have to plan and strategize for the match.”
