Black Queens head coach Mercy Tagoe Quarcoo has stated lack of domestic league has affected the performance of the female players making it difficult to select the best squad for the National Team.

The Black Queens have been in camp for three weeks now preparing for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics qualifiers against Gabon.

Speaking to NBSports live on her team’s preparations, Mercy Tagoe showed her displeasure with the lack of domestic competition in the country. She also expressed her doubt about the team readiness for the game against Gabon on August 28th.

“I’m very very worried about lack of women’s football competition in the country, because we use to play FA Cup, Special Cup, League matches and Champions of Champions and now they are no more.”

“It is bringing the performance and the level of what we know Ghana female football to be down. The Black Queens gaffer did not hesitate to show her displeasure on the fact that it makes it difficult for her to make call ups during national assignment.

“As a coach of a national team whenever you assemble your players for camping it becomes very difficult and you need to put in so much effort because you can’t break them down. If you don’t take care and limit the intensity of the training it might bring problem because you will not have enough time to catch.

“And their performance will be abysmal and I’m seriously worried about that Ghana will begin their quest to qualify to Tokyo 2020 against Gabon on August 28” She added
