The pride in wearing Dreams FC and Hearts of Oak jerseys has hit the roof with staff of Consolidated Bank Ghana proudly showcasing their admiration for the two clubs in their #repyourclub week.
The bank as part of its cooperate practice of identifying with popular clubs, both local and foreign, had their staff wearing jerseys of clubs they support.
And admirably, it was only Dreams FC and Hearts of Oak that had their jerseys on display from the local scene.
Sadly and controversially, about 80% of the staff put on jerseys of foreign clubs neglecting the local brand.
For a bank with indigenous footing, many expected the workers to wear jerseys of the local clubs they support but some of them had a window of escape when they said their local clubs do not have jerseys on the market.
For those who support Ebusua Dwarfs, Techiman Eleven Wonders and other local clubs apart from Hearts, Kotoko, Dreams FC and a few others, not having access to their jerseys on the market was their excuse.
Some also claimed they couldn’t even get jerseys from their clubs for the exhibition even upon request and several reminders.
It looked disappointing to see indigenous Ghanaians proudly showcasing jerseys of their foreign clubs but the showoff by Dreams FC and Hearts of Oak fans gave a window of hope to the Ghanaian that all is not lost.
It looks promising that the next event can showcase more Ghanaian clubs than the foreign clubs.
