Torric Jebrin. One of the Best Rising Stars in the country some 11 years ago. Born and breathed in Old Tafo Zongo. An area called “45” in Old Tafo in the Santan Electoral area was where stayed.
Growing up, Torric played Kusumba “Seba” Football Club in Moshie Zongo before moving to 3rd Division side Anokye Stars where he played coast leagues and other friendlies.
In his days at Anokye, he decided to take part in the annual Christmas gala in 2007. The Left Footed Winger didn’t play more than 6 matches for Old Tafo until Hearts of Oak came for his signature after Heart’s management organised a friendly with Old Tafo.
It was the game that Torric rounded Kofi Abanga in and out and finally made Abanga to rest well on the ground. Showers of praises and applause were made to that effect and after the game, Hearts scouts took him to their car and moved straight to Accra.
Life at Accra. Torric played 3 years for ACCRA HEARTS OF OAK. Within the period of 2008-2011, he had his name mentioned and hailed on newspapers, tabloids, TV, radio etc. Because of his qualities and technical innovation, he was deployed to play as number 10 instead of his previous positions as number 11.
One of his famous moment at Hearts was against Sekondi Hasaccas where he came as a substitute to dribble and leapfrogged 5 defenders plus Goalkeeper before reaching the back of the net.
On the brink of he leaving Heart, he went on trials at Spain where he played few games for Atletico Madrid junior sides. He later came back to Hearts before making a switch to BUCASPOR in the same year (2011).
The Attacker made 26 appearance and later made a controversial move to TRABZONSPOR by terminating his contract which saw BUCASPOR to have filed an official complaint to the Turkish FA that the Former has enticed their player.
Torric was a player for TRABZONSPOR within the period of 2012-2014. Made 2 appearance before loaned to 1461 TRABZON where he played 43 games.
And later, returned to BUCASPOR in 2014-2015. Fixtured in 8 games and later signed for Egyptian based club ISMAILY. He was in Egypt for 2 years (2015-2017).
It was in Ismaily that Torric had his highest caps of 65. But later, had a problem with the team thereby parting ways by mutual consent. Until that, a complaint from Torric’s camp was made to CAF and later Ismaily was made to pay a compensation fee to him.
The Midfielder switched environment to Saudi Arabia where he played for AL-WEHDA CLUB in Mecca in 2017 and later returned to Egypt to play for ARAB CONTRACTORS in 2018.
Still in Egypt, he proceeded to AL-MASRY after 34 games with Arab Contractors. He was a Midfielder for Al-MASRY and did play in the Egyptian league and the Confederation cup.
He was later farmed out to Division one side AL-KAWKAB FC after Coach Hosam Hassan wasn’t impressed with his performance. Elsewhere in Al-KAWKAB, he displayed a brilliant performance with top notch qualities in his 14 games.
A section of fans in Saudi didn’t understand why a player of his calibre was allowed to play for Division one side. In few months, he has his name on top of the tabloids with big teams on the African continent chasing for his signature.
Notable ones were Ghana’s Kotoko and TP Mazembe of DR Congo. Upon sober reflection, the player chosed TP Mazembe as his next destination. Mazembe is one of the Africa’s giant in CAF Intercontinental competitions.
Having won the CAFCL 5x, CAFCC 2x, CAF Super cup 3x without 18 domestic leagues. Mazembe was the runners up of the FIFA Club World cup in 2010. They were also semifinalist in last year’s CAFCL.
Some Ghanian players namely Daniel Nii Adjei, Solomon Asante, Yaw Frimpong, Kissi Boateng, Gladson Awako and the likes all have played for TP Mazembe and were successful.
Henceforth, Torric’s move to Mazembe is the best decision for him to have taken. Looking at his current performance couple with his qualities and enormous technical innovations, TP Mazembe will be the team to watch in next year’s CAFCL.
Once again, it’s a good move and I am very proud of you as a Football Fanatic, Journalist and a Brother. Good luck playmaker.
