Coach Kwesi Appiah has called for the use of Video Assistant Referee (VAR) following Ghana’s disappointing exit from the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
Black Stars suffered elimination on penalties at the hands of Tunisia after the match ended 1-1 in regulation time.
One of the major talking points of the game was Andre Ayew’s disallowed goal towards the end of the first half.
Ghana’s skipper back-heeled the ball into the net off his brother Jordan’s cross, but the goal was disallowed for a handball in the build-up.
However, replays showed that the goal should have been allowed to stand.
“I think VAR will help African football. If there was VAR, that goal would have stood. We had the chances and we could have finished it in normal time. We have to comfort the players. What you have to do is to make use of what you have learnt in the competition” Appiah said at his post-match presser.
