Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has lamented that his team’s poor finishing in front of goal caused them a place in the quarterfinals of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
Tunisia defeated the Black Stars 5-4 on penalties after the match ended 1-1 in regulation time.
An own goal by Rami Bedoui cancelled out Taha Khenissi’s second-half strike as the game went into the extra time and subsequently into the shootout.
The North Africans converted all their spot-kicks with Ghana’s only miss coming from striker Caleb Ekuban.
The Carthage Eagles will face Madagascar in the quarterfinals on Thursday.
“In the game of football when you get chances and you don’t utilize it, these are some of the things that happens and now we already know that but this is football and it happened, and now what we need to do is to make sure we hold on to whatever we learned in this competition,” Appiah said at his presser.
