Fear has started gripping Ghanaians, with the level of anxiety growing at an alarming speed as skipper Andre Ayew failed to train again on Thursday as the team resumed full scale training.
Ayew sat out of the Black Stars’ recovery training on Wednesday after visiting a specialist for examination following a knock he picked during the clash with Benin on Tuesday.
While Thomas Agyepong has been ruled out of the game completely, the medical team is sweating profusely over Ayew’s injury, racing against time to get him fit for the game against Cameroon.
His exclusion from the game will be a huge morale booster for Cameroon as he’s currently Ghana’s leading scorer at the AFCON tournament with 9 goals since his first appearance in 2008.
Ayew is not just an inspirational skipper but also has great influence on the team, scoring Ghana’s equaliser against the Squirrels of Benin on Tuesday before Jordan shot the Black Stars into the lead.
Further examinations are to be conducted on Friday to ascertain his availability for the game on Saturday.
Ghana are currently third in Group F sharing the same point with Benin with Cameroon leading with three points while Guinea-Bissau lie at the bottom, pointless.
