A flamboyant, efficient, technically gifted midfielder, Cletus Nombil is a player that any coach will love to have in his team. In his elements, the six feet youngster can decide the out come of a game with one exquisite pass.
“Cletus is a superb footballer with great control and he knows what to do with the ball,” One journalist who came to cover a Dreams FC game at the Theatre of Dreams recently stated“His intelligence in the game is extraordinary and he is the fulcrum of the team.”
Yes! this description sums up the qualities of the Dreams FC central midfielder, he is an excellent ball-carrier and his versatility has seen him excel in his role as well as both the defensive and offensive midfield roles respectively.
Born on August 23, 2000, the 18-year-old joined Dreams from second-tier side Tudu Mighty Jets in 2018 and has risen to become a main component in the midfield of the Dawu-based club. He was key last season as Dreams won the GHALCA Top Eight competition and has never looked back.
In a country where the game is generally centred in midfield, Cletus is already seen as a gem who the four-time African champions can look up to in the near future. He is a complete midfielder and has already drawn comparison to Ivorian legend Yaya Toure.
Already tagged as a genius, Cletus has train with both the Ghana National Under 20 and Under 23 teams and he has been the cynosure of the eyes of most of the foreign scouts who come to Ghana to look for players.
It’s scarce to find players who seem to possess it all but Cletus has proven he is top notch. Ghana as a country is known for churning out excellent midfielders including Essien, Muntari Appiah and others but it will take sometime for a universal midfielder like Cletus to be produced.
He is also a leader on the field and can inspire his team mates when the going gets tough which he has shown it many times.
For the next generation of Ghanaian midfielders, one name the world should look out for is Cletus Nombil.
