Andre Ayew has given an honest assessment of his season after bringing the curtains down on a year long loan deal with Turkish giants Fenerbaçe.
The Black Stars captain endured a torrid campaign with The Yellow-Navy Blues as they finished sixth on the table and just 9 point away from a relegation spot.
The 29 year old made 32 appearances for the Instanbul club, scoring 5 goals in the process but Ayew still feels he could have given so much more to club.
”First of all I want to thank the fans, the club and the staff. I am leaving this great club with a lot of experience. It was a very tough year for us but at least we have managed to finish the season strongly,” he said.
”Let’s hope Fenerbahce have a great season in the next campaign. Speaking personally, I have to say that I should have done better. This is a huge club and the memories will remain with me forever,” he told the club’s official TV channel.
Ayew will return to parent club Swansea City, after Fenerbaçe decided against splashing out a reported €17m fee to buy him.
