Asante Kotoko defeated Real Tamale United by 3-1 to secure qualification to the round 16 stage of the Normalization Committee tier two league.
Goals from Kwame Boahene, Nii Adjei and Abdul Ganiyu helped the Porcupines to overcome their opponents from the North.
Kwame Boahene broke the deadlock of the game for the Porcupines in the 4th minute after tapping in a cross from Daniel Nii Adjei to give his side the lead.
Despite dominating the game and creating a lot of chances, Asante Kotoko couldn’t add to their lead.
The visitors were given a life line in the 25th minute after being awarded a penalty which they converted to draw level.
Daniel Nii Adjei made it 2-1 for the home side, after pouncing on a rebound in the penalty box and finishing with ease.
The first half ended 2-1 in favour of Asante Kotoko.
Asante Kotoko continued their dominance in the second half and nearly made it three after they were awarded a penalty in the 55th minute.
Teguy Zibo stepped up and missed the kick.
The Porcupines were awarded a second penalty in 79th minute after Emmanuel Gyamfi’s cross hit the hands of an RTU defender.
Abdul Ganiyu made no mistake this time around and covert it nicely to make 3-1.
Despite putting up a late fight, RTU couldn’t get back to the game as they referee whistled for the end of the game.
