Mercurial winger Kwame Boahene was arguably the man of the match as Kumasi Asante Kotoko defeated Real Tamale United by three goals to one in the Normalisation Committee Special Competition game on Wednesday.
Boahene was a torn in the flesh of the RTU players for the entire duration of the game as they were unable to track him down.
It took Boahene just three minutes to open the scoring with a fine drive before RTU pulled even through a penalty after central defender Wahab Adams heckled an opponent in the box.
Boahene went on a run into the RTU box but was brought down for a penalty which Ivorian import Danny Teguy missed.
Emmanuel Gyamfi’sĀ deliveredĀ a nice cross which was connected beautifully by Boahene but the RTU keeper palmed it in front of Daniel Nii Adjei who made no mistake by hitting it into the net to make it 2-1.
Kotoko netted the third goal in the 79th minute through an Abdul Ganiyu penalty after Emmanuel Gyamfi had been brought down in the box.
The Porcupine Warriors have now booked a place in the last sixteen of the competition.
