With Ghana’s target of lifting the 2019 AFCON trophy, former skipper Asamoah Gyan has held peaceful talks with Ghana coach Kwasi Appiah following a hot week of strained relationship.
Gyan had announced his retirement from the Ghana national team following a decision by Coach Kwasi Appiah to hand over the captains armband to Andre Ayew.
The Kayserispor striker was forced to take a swift u-turn by Ghana president Nana Akufo-Addo to be named in the provisional squad for the tournament.
Gyan announced on Monday that he will hold a peaceful talk with Coach Kwasi Appiah and re-affirm his desire to help the coach guide Ghana to lift the trophy.
Cousin of Kwasi Appiah, Asante Forkuo, who was part of the meeting reveals ”All I can say is that the meeting went and this is nothing cosmetic and both parties left the meeting satisfied and happy.”
Gyan has been elevated to the position of General Captain of the Black Stars.
Gyan reiterated his desire to help Ghana lift the trophy after the reconciliation meeting with Kwasi Appiah.
Gyan will be making his seventh Africa Cup of Nations appearance this June in Egypt if he makes the final squad for the tournament.
Appiah has named 29 players in his provisional list to embark on a training tour of Dubai.
