CAF has rescheduled the AFCON Qualifier between Ghana’s U23 side – Black Meteors – and their Algerian counterparts to September this year, FootballMadeInGhana.com can confirm.
The Black Meteors were expected to take on their Algerian counterparts next month in the final clash of the qualifiers for the U23 AFCON.
But the Confederation of Africa Football has resolved that the final qualifying games will be played in September.
The countries involved in the qualifiers will have to choose a date from September 2 to September 10.
The news will come as a huge sigh of relief for Ghana deputy coach Ibrahim Tanko as he was billed to start camping with the U23 team this week.
The date of the game with Algeria would have coincided with the start of the camping of the Black Stars in Dubai ahead of the 2019 AFCON.
Tanko would have been torn between the devil and the deep blue sea if the date had not been changed.
Ghana made it to the final phase of the qualifiers after dashing aside Togo and Gabon in the first and second games respectively.
Ibrahim Tanko is looking to set a record of securing qualification to the Olympic Games for the first time since 2004.
